EAST NAPLES, Fla.- Collier County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of another man in East Naples today.

Javier Ortoll, 78, was arrested and faces charges of second-degree murder.

Detectives said Ortoll shot Edward Melone, 51, during a dispute at Melone’s residence, located at 3523 Okeechobee St.

Melone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members say the two men at disagreements in the past and Melone was two months behind on his rent.

An investigation continues.

A neighbor said he heard the gunfire. "Erlier there was a gun shot that went off, I don't know what happened, out of nowhere and that's when 20 squad cars pulled up. Hearing a gun shot, it can only mean a couple things," said Brian Best.
