NAPLES, Fla. -Joseph Derival has owned the store God is the Unique Owner for close to two decades. He said Monday night was the first time he was robbed.
"One of them, did point a gun to me and I was sitting and he asked me to lie down," said Derival.
Derival said he was working in the back office when two men came into the store, forced him to lie down, they then tied a telephone cord around his hands.
"And they went all over in my business."
And stole bank bags filled with cash. Officials said the suspects made off with nearly seven thousand dollars, money that was meant to help customer's families and friends. WINK News cameras were there Monday night when authorities searched in the air and on the ground for the men.
"People come here and they send money to their relatives in Haiti."
While he's hopeful the two men are caught, Derival said he feels lucky.
"I am happy to be like I am now, they don't beat me, they don't kill me because if God was not there, I wouldn't be able to talk to you as i'm talking to you," said Derival.
Derival's customers come to his store to wire money. So all of the people who planned to their money to loved ones in Haiti are right now at a loss. The parent company in Miami said there is nothing they can do to reimburse the money until they see the police report.
If you have any information, you're asked to call the Naples Police Department.
