LEE COUNTY, FL - The Lee County Sheriff's agricultral unit sees all type of animals. Horses, chickens, cows and goats are only some of the animals that have been housed at the agricultural impound yard on Ortiz avuenue in Fort Myers. But this week, a yak was brought in after it was found wandering around near Colonial Boulevard and Plantation avenue. The animal, which hails from South Eastern Asia was a Fort Myers woman's pet. The owner says the yak has been a "mad cow" since going into 'heat'. The owner decided to surrender the animal to the Sheriff's office. Now the animal will be sent to an auction to be sold. The proceeds will go toward paying off the fines and fees associated with housing the animal.
