ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A woman is recovering after being shot in the shoulder in the doorway of her St. Petersburg home as her two small children were nearby.
St. Petersburg police say the shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday after 28-year-old Melisha Ford opened the door to an acquaintance.
The Tampa Bay Times (bit.ly/19UfOaH ) reports the woman talked to the man in the doorway for a few minutes before a man in a black ski mask appeared and starting shooting into the house.
Police say she was hit in the shoulder and other bullets hit the walls. Ford's daughters, ages 2 and 3, were not harmed.
Ford was taken to Bayfront Medical Center.
Police say they're looking for two suspects.
