FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A motorist who witnessed the gangland-style slaying of a prominent South Florida businessman says he initially feared the shooter would come after him next.
Robert Puskarich testified Tuesday his car was directly behind the BMW driven by Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis when the driver of a black Mustang fired several shots at Boulis. Puskarich says he ducked down but then came face-to-face with the shooter as the Mustang slowly drove past.
The testimony came in the trial of Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello and Anthony "Little Tony" Ferrari. They face the death penalty if convicted of arranging Boulis' 2001 killing in a power struggle over the SunCruz Casinos gambling fleet.
Boulis also founded Miami Subs restaurants. He sold SunCruz to former Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff and a partner before he was killed.
