PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The former Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy accused of possessing child pornography has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

Kenneth Barton was arrested in June, after FBI agents found explicit videos of young girls in sexual positions on his computer.

Under the specified sex offender conditions, Barton will be required to undergo mental health treatment specialized for sex offenders, will have no contact with minors and will face computer restrictions.

Barton retired from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office in 2007, amid allegations he molested a relative who was between 6 and 10 years of age at the time. Barton was never charged in that case.
