LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A man accused of assaulting an elderly man at a laundromat appeared in court this morning. 55-year-old Keneth Wood faces felony battery charges, accused of beating a 75-year-old man from North Fort Myers.

The judge told Wood to stay away from the elderly man he attacked, and to not return to the North Fort Myers laundromat where the incident took place September 9th.

It took detectives just hours to arrest Wood after receiving several Crime Stoppers tips linking him to the attack. They had been searching for him for two weeks after the incident was caught on tape inside a laundromat on Pine Island Road in North Fort Myers.

Surveillance video shows Wood push an elderly man down and smash his cell phone, preventing him from calling 9-1-1 for help. For those reasons, the judge ordered Wood to keep away from the victim and place of incident.

Wood also has two prior arrests in Lee County on battery charges.

His trial is set to begin on October 28th.
