MIAMI (AP) - Police in Miami-Dade are investigating the death of an 18-year-old woman after witnesses called 911 and reported seeing a body fall out of a truck.
Investigators say witnesses saw a commercial truck heading eastbound on S.W. 288th Street Saturday at about 7:52 a.m.
As the truck made a left turn onto S.W. 144th Avenue, what appeared to be a body fell from the passenger side of the truck. The truck stopped and a man exited and placed the body back inside.
Witnesses told police they lost sight of the truck moments later.
When detectives responded to the scene they found the victim's body at a construction site. Miami-Dade police have identified her only as an 18-year-old old white Hispanic female. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her cause of death is unknown.
Witnesses reported seeing a 2 or 3-year-old child in the truck. Investigators say they are concerned about the welfare of the child. They are asking for the community to help locate the child.
Detectives are also looking for the truck's driver. The truck is described as having an open caged cargo bed equipped with a rollup tarp. There was writing on the driver side of the door only.
