FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Fort Myers Police Department is investigating an occupied burglary that happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the Gulf Stream Isles Apartments.
Upon arrival, police learned that an unknown male knocked on the door of a female resident’s apartment. The male claimed to be with the Department of Children and Families. The resident opened to the door, the male entered the apartment and attacked her. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and go out to her balcony to yell for help. The suspect continued to attack the victim on the balcony and observed a maintenance man staring at him, at which time he fled the apartment.
The suspect is described as a white male, early to mid 30s, with blonde hair, and possibly a receding hair line. He was about 5’5”- 5’7”, wearing a purple dress shirt and khaki pants.
Police remind residents to keep your doors locked at all times. Never open your door to a stranger. Use your peephole to see who is at the door before you open it and ask for identification. If something appears to be suspicious to you make a call to the agency or business the person claims to be with to verify their legitimacy.
