FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - One person has died after crashing into a police cruiser while trying to avoid a traffic stop.
Davie police said the driver of a Toyota was trying to avoid being pulled over when he lost control and T-boned a second police vehicle, spinning the patrol car 180 degrees, during rush hour Thursday. The driver died at the scene. Two passengers were hospitalized in critical condition. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their names weren't immediately released.
The Miami Herald (http://tinyurl.com/jwedyg9) reports the crash snarled traffic on the busy South Florida road for several hours as they investigated the scene and cleaned up glass and car parts.
