COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Collier County deputies visited 54 businesses over the weekend during an underage enforcement operation, and found 41 properly checked IDs and refused to sell alcohol and tobacco to minors.
Eleven store clerks were issued a notice to appear in court on charges of selling alcohol to a minor. Two store clerks were given warnings for selling tobacco to a minor.
The operation focused on area convenience stores, drug stores, liquor stores and grocery stores.
CCSO periodically conducts similar operations in an effort to prevent alcohol from falling into the hands of those who are not yet 21 years old and to assure that businesses are not selling tobacco products to anyone younger than 18.
