BONITA SPRINGS, Fla -- A Bonita Springs woman is alive thanks to quick actions of five Lee County deputies and firefighters. Monday they were honored in a special ceremony and given the Phoenix award, the highest honor.
The first responders have brought back the life of a 55 year old Bonita Springs resident. "The husband heard a noise and he found his wife on ground, not responding, not breathing, so we started doing CPR," says Deputy Juan Santos, a Lee County Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Anthony Moschella with the Bonita Springs Fire District, "this is a special one for me. This is very rare. We're all proud of it, this is a special one for us because its not something that happens everyday."
Santos adds, "It's rewarding when the person makes it and the accolades are okay but it's more important to save the person."
The victim is a seasonal resident and currently in Virginia.
