LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Former FGCU Eagle Sherwood Brown is known for his skills on the basketball court, but now he's branching out. The recent graduate is entering the business world as he decides whether to play basketball professionally.
Brown, the A-Sun Player of the Year, just started at Excelitrex. The Naples-based company is a business development and consulting firm. Brown works with CEO Peter Cuderman and is working for free.
"After having our recent success in the tournament run, the community showed me a lot of support, as well as my team, and so did the rest of the nation actually, so I kind of wanted to do something to say thank you to the community and give back," said Brown.
The 22-year-old is giving his proceeds to his newly started charity Dunk City Hoops. Brown says he expects to know his basketball future within the next week or so. He will be with the team when they head to New York for the ESPYs on the 17th.
