CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Your donations can help Cape Coral family whose home was destroyed by fire.
A mother was cooking in the garage Friday when it burst into flames. She escaped with her two children. It happened at the home in the northwest section of the city.
The fire department says the home is a total loss, but now, a fund has been set up at Fifth Third Bank in Lee County. You can make a contribution to the Martinez family.
"She grabbed my kids and the phone and fortunately got out and called the 911 service," said father Alexis Quesade.
The family is also in need of food, clothing, and toys for their children.
"You can bring any food into the Walmart on Nicholas and Pine Island Road and also the Publix on Pine Island and Burnt Store Road," said neighbor Tim Brister.
Brister is a pastor at Grace Baptist Church, where they are also accepting donations for the family. You can drop items off at the church on 1300 Ceitus Terrace, Cape Coral.
The neighborhood is also hosting a donation party for the couple on Saturday.
It's taking place at Tim Brister's house from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. 231 NW 27th Place.
You can also drop off items before then at his home.
Thursday and Friday, 9am - 8pm.
Saturday, 8am - 12pm.
The family has a 4 year old daughter and an 11 year old son.
