VENICE, Fla. - A one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 this morning in Venice killed two people and injured six others. Florida Highway Patrol says that van was from LARC in Lee County, an organization that helps people with developmental disabilities. The crash happened around 9:30 Sunday morning.
According to FHP, Johniece Diaz from Cape Coral was driving the van when the left rear tire blew and she lost control. The van then overturned killing two passengers.
FHP says Diaz, who was not wearing a seat belt, and four others are in serious condition. Another passenger, who also wasn't wearing a seat belt, is in critical condition.
The driver and the passengers are all from Cape Coral and North Fort Myers. LARC tells us the van was headed to Quest's Camp Thunderbird in Apopka.
