CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral artist is donating his artwork to the families of fallen soldiers. Rick Kelley's 'freedom series' entails six-pieces of artwork inspired by September 11th.  His collection is being donated to our fallen heroes nationwide.

"The part that people forgot was the unconditional love after 9/11, so what I'm trying to do is recreate that unconditional love without someone having to die for it, even though that is what's happening," said artist Rick Kelley.

Six patriotic images have been created to honor our country's fallen heroes.

"Through it all, everything I have done with these patriotic images, there's one common denominator and that is passion. It's unconditional love, it's about helping others," Kelley explained.

Artist Rick Kelley says his 'American Freedom Series' comes after the events of 9/11. His first piece- Liberty's Flight- was created six months after the attacks on America's soil.

"The wars that we are in are because of 9/11 and the soldiers are giving their lives because of 9/11 to protect our freedom and they are doing that unconditionally."

The last was completed on the 10th anniversay of 9/11. "The Homecoming" is the story of a solider returning from war.

"He's wearing his deployment patch, which is 25th Infantry Airborne. His buddy wearing the same deployment patch didn't make it, but he's there with the soldiers, police and firemen of 9/11 and they are honoring him for what he died for."

Kelley is donating his work to families who've lost a loved one. Each one will have a personalized plate with the name of the fallen solider and sent to the family.

"I'm proud of the people who are defending this country. I have a passion and a love for the people of this country and the people of this world."

Kelley is also giving his artwork to veterans in Cape Coral on Tuesday June 25th at noon. The event will be held at the veterans museum, which will include a free lunch for vets.
