COLLIER COUNTY, Fla - It's the first of its kind in Southwest Florida and Fit Nation CEO Stan Douge is taking the fitness community by storm. Fit Nation Magazine is taking a completely local approach to connecting the fitness community from Marco Island to Cape Coral.

Stan Douge grew up in Southwest Florida. Always active and health conscious, he started realizing a few years ago that society's perception toward being fit was turning into a trend.

"Now, it's rampant everywhere," says Douge. "On any given day you'll see a group of cyclists, maybe 20-30 people, at 5:00-6:30 in the morning as well as runners. Every weekend there's a different race or crossfit event. People are paddleboarding, paddleboard yoga is huge right now."

Douge took his love for fitness and turned it into a first for Southwest Florida. He launched Fit Nation Magazine, a one of a kind resource for Southwest Florida runners, cyclists, yogi's and others to collaborate and connect.

"Now there's a resource here where everybody can connect, share ideas, as well as a resource for the community outside to find out what's going on within the fitness community," says Douge.

The magazine features local athletes like Lisa Buohler and her journey from a hospital bed to the Boston Marathon. You can find tips for eating healthy at local restaurants and use Fit Nation to find out what events are going on any given weekend.

"The fit community will continue to grow and now with Fit Nation Magazine being here, unifying everyone together and being that bridge, it's only going to explode," says Douge. "It has to."

The magazine is free. You can find it at 300 different locations. The next issue will hit the shelves July 1st. For more information head to
