LEHIGH ACRES , Fla - Five teenagers are under arrest for robbing a Lehigh Acres convenience store.

Lee County deputies were called to the H&K Food Mart, located at 1490 Lee Boulevard, at approximately 3:15 a.m. They met with a store employee who says while he was working inside, four unknown males wearing masks or clothing over their faces entered the store. The males demanded cash and other miscellaneous items. They also confronted a patron inside the store and demanded his money. The robbers were observed fleeing the area in a small silver vehicle.

Responding deputies observed a vehicle fitting that description travelling south on Homestead Road at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop. Deputies pursued the vehicle until it finally lost control at the intersection of East 5th Street and Glenn Avenue and crashed into a wooded area. Occupants from the car bailed and fled the scene. Deputies rushed to the aid of a female who was pinned inside the vehicle screaming for help. Deputies were able to free the injured female from the vehicle and provide first aid. She was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Inside the vehicle deputies recovered cash, masks, gloves and a Smith & Wesson BB gun.

An extensive canvas of the area was conducted for several hours using deputies and K-9 on the ground as well as the Aviation Unit. During the search, deputies located and detained five males hiding in the area. Information gathered during the interviews as well as the physical evidence located at the scene prompted arrests of the individuals.
