Captiva, Fla. -- A new Youtube video is making some waves with wildlife officials.
A whale shark swam up to a boat that was off Captiva Island Saturday.
That's when a man jumps into the water, swims up to the fin and takes a ride.
Whale sharks are not protected so this wasn't illegal, but an research expert says touching and riding a whale shark is discouraged for the health of the fish.
People and boats should stay at least six feet away to maintain safety.
