PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office made a total of 84 arrests during the 17-day "Operation Parkside." Half of the arrests were drug-related arrests. Thirty-eight of the arrests came as a result of a traffic stop. There were a total of 302 traffic stops, which resulted in 129 traffic citations and 269 traffic warnings being issued.

The Sheriff’s Office will still be in the Parkside area as the redevelopment and revitalizations efforts continue.

During the 17 day operation, additional Sheriff’s Office resources from specialized units were pulled into the Parkside area, which is bordered by US 41, Midway Blvd. and the Fordham Waterway. The Sheriff’s Office was able to more clearly identify potential trouble spots that the deputies who regularly work the area can watch.

The Sheriff’s Office handled a total of 236 incidents or offenses. Among the types of reports taken were four theft reports, three assaults, two burglaries and one stolen vehicle. There were also 22 public assist calls, 19 juvenile complaints and 10 disturbances.
