MIAMI (AP) - Jungle Island in Miami is hosting a contest to name its first baby flamingo of the year.

Park officials kept a watchful eye on the flamingo during Memorial weekend after hatching on Friday. Park spokeswoman Ashley Serrate says the hatching process takes three days, and park officials won't know the sex of the newest addition to the flock for a few months.

Submissions for the name contest can be sent to contest@jungleisland.com. The contest started on Tuesday. The winner will be announced June 3 and will receive tickets to the park, as well as a Miami Marlins game.

This is the first baby flamingo to hatch this year. Serrate says another eight or nine eggs are being incubated.

More than 70 flamingos call Jungle Island home.
