COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Tom Simoncic is a Sunshine Pharmacy customer. He said without programs like Medicare, people would suffer.
"Most of us wouldn't even be living today without medicare cause you can't afford the drugs," said Simoncic.
Authorities said Delmer Parrish and his mother Patricia took advantage of the system, and billed for prescriptions that were never filled. Both are out on bond. Our camer was rolling as Patricia Parrish left Sunshine Pharmacy this morning. She didn't stop to speak to us. We're told the 73 year old is allowed to work behind the counter. But cannot bill customers. At Delmer Parrish's home, no one would ansewr the door, even though we saw people inside.
"I just hate to see people take advantage of those programs because we're all gonna pay for it," said Simoncic.
And there's even more trouble for the family. This time for Delmer's brother, Adam, seen here in court. The 33 year old is accused of using a doctor's DEA number to pass of fake prescriptions for pills such as Xanax and Hydrocodone. The judge said he will have to stay behind bars because he's on probation for other crimes. Customers of Sunshine Pharmacy are in shock about the allegations against the Parrish family.
"It's just too bad being a neighborhood drug store. I'm sure it helped a lot of seniors around here," said Simoncic.
