LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Bond is set at $70,000 for a driver allegedly involved in a deadly accident on U.S. 41 in Estero. Donna Brown is accused of running into Carl Patrick's motorcycle and dragging him for three miles.
Brown made her first appearance in court Friday morning. The 54-year-old was wearing a suicide jacket.
Brown is charged with DUI manslaughter, hit-and-run with a death, property damage, and careless driving. Troopers say after making a U-turn, she ran into Patrick's Harley Davidson and kept driving.
A Lee County deputy saw sparks coming from underneath her car and eventually pulled her over. Reading from a deputy's report of last night's accident, the judge said deputies smelled booze on Brown and noted her slurred speech. A blood alcohol test is still pending, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
U.S. 41 was closed for five hours overnight during the initial investigation.
Brown will remain in the Lee County jail until she is able to post bail.
