NAPLES, Fla. - Dwight Brock, Clerk of the Circuit Court in Collier County, is advising citizens to be aware of a jury scam whereby citizens receive a message telling them that their name has been printed in the newspaper for failing to appear for jury duty. The message also provides a 24 hour telephone number for them to call back to check on the report.
The Clerk's staff has determined that this jury scam is similar to ones being experienced in other states.
It is important for citizens to know that the Clerk's Office never provides a list of juror names for publication in the newspaper.
Citizens are advised to delete the message immediately and not provide any personal information to unknown callers.
For more information, citizens can call Robert D. St. Cyr, Director, Community Outreach at (239) 252- 6879
