FORT MYERS, FL--A Fort Myers neighborhood is stunned after learning one of their neighbors was arrested for allegedly distributing child pornography. WINK News has learned Charles Nave III has a family and children of his own.
Neighbors in this tightly knit community had no idea, that their 38 year old neighbor, Charles Allen Nave III, was arrested yesterday on charges of distributing child pornography.
"I'm horrified. You never really know who your neighbor is I guess," said neighbor Pat Tarvin.
Nave's neighbors also say he is married and has children of his own.
"Two of them are teenage daughters and they have a younger daughter and a little boy," said neighbor Karen Carrasquillo.
The investigation started at the end of January, when Nave began chatting with an undercover agent with the Department of Homeland Security in an online chat room.
According to the affidavit, Nave started sending nude pictures of others to the under cover agent's e-mail. According to authorities, one photo "Depicts a male kneeling on a bed nude over a nude female," and goes on to say "Both the male and female appear to be minors."
"We have three grandchildren, they come to visit and they have been over there before outside which is good," said Carrasquillo.
Authorities tracked the IP address from his e-mail account to Big Arts Gallery on Sanibel, where nave has worked for the past ten years.
According to authorities, once he was arrested, Nave admitted to a pornography addiction and said he needed help.
Once Authorities searched Nave's laptop computer, they found at least 100 images of child pornography.
"I hate things like that, I just hate things like that," said George Carrasquillo.
"I just thought he was a nice Christian fellow, I am just really shocked," said Tarvin.
The affidavit also says Authorities came across photos of people seated at Big Arts online. Those chairs appear to be the same style of chairs in the nude pictures Nave sent That suggests that he may have actually taken some of the photos of minors himself.
Nave is expected in federal court in Fort Myers tomorrow.
