MIAMI (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for the diver who was reported missing during a diving trip off Key Biscayne.
A Coast Guard statement Wednesday said it deployed numerous search-and-rescue operations in more than 2,600 square nautical miles for 39-year-old Jeffery Vincent . Miami commander Capt. Chris Scraba says the most challenging part is "having to suspend search efforts for missing persons at sea."
Investigators said a group of friends left on the dive excursion on Sunday and were just a few miles off Key Biscayne when Vincent jumped into the water and missed the lifeline rope. Strong currents pulled him away from the boat and out of sight from other members aboard.
