CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A fiery debate over mandating sprinklers in Cape Coral homes may last a little longer.
The ordinance would make it mandatory for newly constructed and extensively remodeled single family homes and duplexes to have these sprinklers installed.
Councilman Chris Chulakes-Leetz is sponsoring the ordinance, but says he wants to push back the final vote until August.
The ideas been around for a few years now. Supporters are pushing for the ordinance because they say it will saves lives. But some people in the building industry say this will end up costing people thousands of unnecessary dollars.
