CLEWISTON, Fla.- A 37-year-old woman is dead after a crash in Hendry County Wednesday afternoon. It happened on US 27 at County Road 720, outside of Moore Haven.

Troopers say 27-year-old Berta Villafuerte didn't notice the car in front of her that was carrying a family of four. She hit their bumper and both cars flipped over. The crash threw Martha Prado from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigators pronounced her dead on the scene.

FHP says the driver of the vehicle Martha was riding in, 42-year-old Francisco Prado Garcia, was taken to Hendry Regional Hospital in serious condition.

Charges are pending against Villafuerte, who was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.
