FORT MYERS, Fla. - On Friday, the Fort Myers Police Department’s Special Investigations Group with the assistance of SWAT and uniformed officers conducted a search warrant at 3653 Madison Avenue apartment A.
The investigation stemmed from a two-month investigation initiated by detectives who were contacted by community policing officers for the area about the problem. Police seized a variety of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia used for weighing and packaging the drugs including the following: 4.9 grams of “crack” cocaine or 66 pieces, 12.5 grams of cocaine Hcl, 3.6 grams of MDMA or 11 pills commonly referred to as Mollies and 94.0 grams of marijuana packaged for street distribution. The estimated street value of the drugs is $6,250.
Police arrested the following people: Brian Sturgis (d.o.b. 4/16/85) was arrested for possession of cocaine with the intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. James Oliver (d.o.b. 03/09/72) was arrested for possession of cocaine, marijuana and MDMA with the intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Sturgis and Oliver are registered felons. More charges are pending as a result of the investigation. The residence was in disrepair. Police contacted City of Fort Myers Code Enforcement as the property may need to be condemned.
