LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Three of our local airports are possibly losing their control towers to Federal budget cuts, and all are lobbying hard to keep the controllers in the towers.
Some airport officials in Southwest Florida are contacting Congress people and our U.S. Senators to try to restore this funding. The Federal Aviation Administration says it will kepp towers open only if airports can show it is in the national interest to do so. Some are arguing it could be in safety's interest to keep controllers in the towers.
