FORT MYERS, Fla. - Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire at a store on Fowler Street this morning.
Fort Myers firefighters tell us they were called to Benita's Fashion and Beauty Supply at Fowler and Jeffcott Streets just before 6:30 a.m. They say heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the building. The extent of the damage inside is still unknown, but the shop owner says she's hoping for the best.
Firefighters say it's too soon to tell if the fire was suspicious.
At least one nearby business, First Base Christian Academy, says it is cancelling school today since a lot of the smoke went into the building.
