MIAMI (AP) - Police say a woman leaving a Miami restaurant was shot in the face by an armed robber who demanded her purse.
Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes says Evelyn Matamoro was "literally ambushed" about 5:30 p.m. Thursday as she walked to her car in the restaurant's parking lot.
Reyes says the woman gave the man her purse. He then shot her in the face and fled in what may have been a gray Dodge Charger.
Matamoro, who has two young children, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Unit. Authorities say she's listed in critical condition.
