FORT MYERS, Fla.– During December, 679,672 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 1.8 percent compared to December 2011. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 2.5 percent from the same period last year.
The traffic leader in December was Delta with 157,448 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (104,017), JetBlue (73,678), Spirit (62,109) and United (62,050).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 7,790 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 0.6 percent compared to December 2011. Page Field saw 7,476 movements, a 10.3 percent increase from December 2011. In addition, nearly 3.4 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in December 2012, a decrease of 1 percent compared to December 2011.
