COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - WINK News has learned a 4-year-old girl who was pulled from a canal following a violent crash has died. Doctors took 4-year-old Madison Douglas off life support Tuesday just after 8:30pm.
Her devastated family was holding out hope for a miracle, but just a day after her mother and sister died, family members realized it was time to say goodbye.
Monday morning, 33-year-old Cecilia Douglas, died after she hit the back of a box truck. The impact sent her and her two daughters flying in to a canal 20 to 30 feet deep.
Three year old Rylee died at the hospital Monday night-a child that family friend Don Eagle says was full of life.
"Three year old, typical, playful play around," said Eagle.
Now, 4-year-old Madison was taken off life support after she has been completely unresponsive.
"Madison was more timid. beautiful piercing blue eyes, blond hair," he said.
Nathan and Cecilia Douglas tied the knot in 2006. When they met, Cecilia was a minister of children and families at the same church that nathan's father served as pastor.
"Cecilia was a light when she walked in to a room, she was a walking smile," Eagle said.
A smile that will now only be seen in family photos and fond memories of the two girls.
"I have no doubt that they would have grown up to be something special because their mother was," he said.
