FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- The newly renovated Fort Myers Beach Library will be closed for the rest of the week as volunteers work to move thousands of books out of storage and onto shelves.

Construction on the 18,000 sq. ft. addition started in February 2011, and Wednesday crews were putting on the finishing touches.

"For the first time again, we'll have everything under one wing," Library Director Leroy Hommerding said.

The $9 million renovation more than doubles the library's original size.

When the library reopens Monday, the public will have acces to a brand new children's center, meeting space, and public WI-FI.

Books and other items due this week are given a grace period until the library reopens on Monday, January 14th.
