PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives are asking the public to help identify a man who broke a window of a Ford Edge on Dec. 20 and stole a purse. The burglary and grand theft incident occurred in the CVS parking lot, located at the corner of U.S. 41 and Harborview Road.
An employee parked her vehicle at 1:45 p.m., put her purse on the floor inside then covered it with a sweatshirt to conceal. When she took a break about 6:00 p.m. she saw the window smashed out and the sweatshirt hanging out the broken window.
Detectives obtained surveillance video that shows the suspect making a purchase inside CVS. He was also seen outside riding a bicycle into the parking lot. He then walks by the victim’s vehicle several times, was observed walking away from it with the stolen purse, and leaves the area.
The photo of the suspect taken inside CVS shows a black male, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, about 30 years old with short hair, mustache and goatee. He was wearing a black ball cap, white t-shirt and jean shorts.
If anyone has information about identity of the subject, please call CCSO Detective Kristopher McRae at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
