COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A fire investigation under way at a Collier County apartment complex near the intersection of Sunshine Boulevard and Golden Gate Parkway.

The Golden Gate Fire Department says there are eight apartments in the building where the fire started. It happened in the bedroom of a top floor apartment. Smoke spread into other units and some sustained water damage.

Everyone was able to escape safely and no one was injured.

Red Cross will be helping at least three families who cannot stay in their homes tonight.

The investigation continues.
