CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A Cape Coral councilman is going to the White House.

Derrick Donnell was invited to attend an executive briefing session to discuss national issues on Friday.

He might get to meet President Obama. Donnell says he wants to use this opportunity to promote the city.  "Not many people know about Cape Coral, and I love Fort Myers, but I want people to know about Cape Coral. Specifically, though, we are trying to move our infrastructure forward," Donnell said.

Councilman Donnell was invited to the White House as a Cape Coral resident not as a councilman. He will also be attending a holiday reception at the White House.
