Arrest made in early morning Lehigh Acres grow house fire

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A fire broke out at 4305 13th Street S.W. in Lehigh Acres around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, officials found 168 marijuana plants inside the residence, with a street value estimated at $336,000.
As a result, 50-year-old Richard Lee Smegal Jr. was arrested and charged with Cultivation of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Paraphernalia and Trafficking Marijuana. The investigation continues and additional charges are pending.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
