COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a man deputies believe shot another man in the face in Immokalee late Monday afternoon.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies are looking for 29-year-old Aldrice Edwan Cummings. Deputies said he is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Cummings is wanted for aggravated battery and aggravated battery with a firearm, both felonies, in connection with the shooting that occurred around 5:00 p.m., near the area of South 5th Street and Delaware Avenue.
The victim, Gerald Colby James, 29, of Lehigh Acres, told deputies who were first on the scene that Cummings shot him.
According to CCSO reports, witnesses told deputies that James was sitting on a bicycle on the side of the road in the 600 block of West Delaware Street when he was struck by a 2006 silver Buick four-door passenger vehicle driven by a man, later identified as Cummings. Cummings then turned the car around and drove back in the direction of James, who was on the grass. Cummings pulled the car up next to James and fired one gunshot toward James’ face. After the gunshot, Cummings ran over James with the vehicle and headed south on South 5th Street.
Deputies located the Buick about three blocks away at 507 Doak Ave., which deputies said is the home of a relative of Cummings.
James was flown to Lee County Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition late Monday.
Deputies, assisted by CCSO K-9 and air units, searched the area but were unable to locate Cummings, whose last known address was 603 N. 18th St. in Immokalee.
Anyone with information about Cummings’ whereabouts is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239.252.9300, or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward call Crime Stoppers at 1.800.780.TIPS (8477).
