GLADES COUNTY, Fla.- A crash claimed the lives of two people and injured three others in Glades County on Sunday just before 3:30 p.m.

The victims' identities are not being released until family members have been notified.

The two Miami residents were traveling southbound on a motorcycle on State Road 78, approaching US 27, while 73-year-old Gabriel Baldomero of Homestead was traveling on another motorcycle ahead of them.

Diane Schiell, 61, of North Port was driving her Hyundai Sonata west in the right travel lane of U.S. 27, approaching the intersection of State Road 78.

The driver of the first motorcycle failed to stop and struck Baldomero, causing her to lose control and overturn. She sustained minor injuries.

The driver then continued south on State Road 78 and failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection of US 27. He or she then proceeded into the intersection of US 27, directly into the path of Schiell.

Both Miami residents were ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the crash scene by paramedics with Glades County EMS.

Diane Schiell and her passenger, 61-year-old Wendell Schiell, sustained minor injuries.
