NAPLES, Fla - A post election business boom or bust? Two Naples business owners are presenting two very different reactions to the presidential election.

Back in April, Phil McCabe hosted a private fundraising event for First Lady Michelle Obama at his hotel, The Inn on Fifth. He is thrilled with the election results and has a very positive outlook moving forward.

For the owner of the Inn on Fifth and McCabe's Irish Pub, business is booming. The hotels new 32 club level suites will open in late December. As far as Democrat Phil McCabe is concerned, the economy along 5th Avenue has a bright future.

"It's a growing economy, retail sales are growing, 5th Avenue occupancies are the highest they've ever been. I do not see anything but a positive economy," says McCabe.

Down the road at Naples Bay Resort, Bob Jack is worried about the future of his business Character Eyez, an optical boutique store that he and his wife opened in 2008. Optimism he had early Tuesday was wiped away with the President's re-election.

"When I woke up Wednesday morning, I felt like someone hit me in the stomach," says Jack. "I thought if Romney had gotten elected I though the economy would take off like a bottle rocket. I just felt it was going to be an explosion of economic activity."

Now, plans to hire extra help have been scratched and the small business owner will hold off on buying a new fashion line. "After the election, I called him and said I'm going to wait. That interrupted his growth, it interrupted his companies growth and it interrupted my growth."

Two men looking at the same situation, but seeing two very different pictures for the future of Naples and our country.

"I might point out that the majority of Americans voted for President Obama and those majority of Americans are the consumers and so maybe there will be a small minority that will sell their stocks and move to Canada, but I'm not seeing it at all. I'm not seeing it in our reservations, iIm not seeing it in Naples, Florida," says McCabe.

McCabe says they have already secured Chase Bank to be the anchor store below the new hotel. They are also bringing in Chico's and another retail store.

As for Character Eyez, Bob Jack says he's waiting and watching to see how everything plays out.
