ENGLEWOOD, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy arrested an Englewood woman Tuesday for burglarizing her next door neighbor’s home and stealing $4,245 in items. Anita Louise McGillicuddy, 56, of 1495 Janet Place, was arrested for Burglary and Grand Theft .

The victims told the deputy they suspected McGillicuddy and confronted her. They said she admitted to them that she entered their home without permission and stole numerous jewelry items, clothes, shoes, towels, a brass bowl, a chainsaw, and other items. The owners said McGillicuddy did return some of the items to them.

The deputy made contact with McGillicuddy who said she had been drinking heavily and may have blacked out. She remembered entering the home but couldn’t recall how, and was trying to remember where she placed the other missing items. Still unaccounted for was a gold pendant, a bracelet, a gold chain and the electric chainsaw, valued at $1,750. Her roommate told the deputy he would continue to look throughout the house and let CCSO know if he finds any of the remaining stolen items.

McGillicuddy was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where she remains on $5,000 bond.
