MIAMI (AP) - A Florida doctor has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for stealing more than $1.2 million in employee pension funds.

A federal judge also ordered 69-year-old Dr. Albert Robert Massam to pay a $50,000 fine and restitution to pension fund participates who lost money due to the fraud. Massam pleaded guilty earlier this year.

Prosecutors say Massam diverted the money by wiring it to a bank in Austria. He then used the money for such things as a divorce, living expenses and operating expenses for his medical practice.

Massam lives in Polk County but practiced orthopedic surgery in Sebring.
