SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - Two central Florida sheriff's deputies have been fired following an internal investigation into a traffic stop in Sanford.
The Orlando Sentinel (http://thesent.nl/Srqzvw ) reports the men were fired Monday.
An investigation showed deputies Christopher Clutter and Erik Ducharme stopped two men in Sanford on May 19 for a seat belt violation. The report says Clutter swore at the driver and wielded a shotgun and stun gun.
The newspaper reported several deputies who were in the line of fire told investigators they were concerned about their safety because of Clutter's "carelessness" in handling the weapons.
The investigation found Clutter lied on a report and that Ducharme falsified a report and failed to use a microphone during the stop, which is a sheriff's office requirement.
The deputies can appeal to a civil-service board.
