FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The fireworks were flying Wednesday night as the U.S. Senate candidates met in their first debate.
Senator Bill Nelson (D) and Congressman Connie Mack (R) traded accusations in an hour-long face-off at Nova Southeastern University.

"People hear all this misinformation and I'm going to make sure that's corrected," Nelson said prior to the debate.

"Senator Nelson is going to have to explain a lot of his votes, and its going to be uncomfortable for him," Mack said.

The evening consisted of Mack hammering Nelson on a disputed medicare claim. The incumbent Senator Nelson went after Mack on his attendance in the House of Representatives.

The two candidates did agree on a couple of subjects, like that Iran is the biggest threat to national security. Both also oppose lifting the embargo on Cuba.
