FORT MYERS, Fla. -- WINK News has learned Jesse Watlington has been taken off life support. Tampa General confirmed the news Sunday afternoon that Jesse passed away.
Pastor Richard Powell with McGregor Bapitist Church told WINK News in an interview that Jesse was taken off life support Sunday morning.
McGregor Baptist Church posted the following on their Facebook page at 12:30 p.m.:
Jesse Watlington Update - 10/07/11 12:30 PM The family has requested that we say thank you for your love, support, and prayers. Based on neurological tests done in recent hours, life support has been removed, and Jesse's struggles are ending. Please continue to pray for this dear family.
Chuck Watlington, Jesse's father, posted this on the Pray For Jesse Watlington Facebook page Sunday morning at about 11:45 a.m.
"Our precious little son Jesse is now with our Lord and Saviour Jesus. We would like to Thank the thousands of you for all your love, support and prayers ! Jesse has touched the lives of literally thousands of people around the World. Thank you all!"
Shortly after 2:30pm, McGregor Baptist Church released this statement:
"I have just received word from our Pastor who is with the family that Jesse has gone to be with the Lord and has passed. Please continue to pray for his family in this time of loss and sadness." -Dr. Richard A. Powell
McGregor Baptist Church held a special prayer service on Sunday morning. Jesse was struck by lightning on Wednesday afternoon at Southwest Florida Christian Academy and passed away at Tampa General Hospital on Sunday.
