FORT MYERS, Fla. - If you were anywhere near Daniels Parkway and U.S. 41 Friday night, you knew something big was going on. Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Fort Myers, ahead of his speaking event Saturday morning.

The Vice President is staying at the Crown Plaza Hotel, right next to the Bell Tower Shops. Roads surrounding the hotel were blocked off for several hours Friday night, causing traffic backups. But, it was quite a surprise for people just out for a bite to eat nearby. Many stopped in their tracks to catch a glimpse of the motorcade.

"We saw a lot of cars and motorcycles, and my dad and mom said it was the Vice President," young Katie Czahor said. "We got a little excited."

Czahor and her mother Judy had no idea their dinner would include a show like this.

"When we were stopped, we asked a policeman and he said yes, it was Joe Biden coming," Judy Czahor said.

Dozens gathered to snap pictures, or at least see if they could spot the second-in-command. It was a surprise arrival. Vice President Joe Biden made two campaign stops on the east coast Friday, and according to a Florida campaign manager, wasn't expected in Fort Myers so soon after. Security was tight. Law enforcement blocked off the parking lot and K9 officers walked the grounds.

But, not everyone showed up in support. "You see this sticker here people? It's a joke," Betty McCarney said, holding an Obama/Biden sticker she found on the ground.

McCarney came to the hotel in hopes of confronting Biden. She says she just switched to the Republican party two weeks ago.

"He's a stooge for Obama," McCarney said. "This man didn't protect our embassy, he didn't protect our ambassador, he doesn't our military, Obama, he doesn't protect anybody in this country."

Some voters are still undecided. "It's a tough call," Judy Czahor said. "They're both very good candidates."

But, others already know who they'd vote for if they were old enough. "I think he's awesome," Katie Czahor. "I can't believe he came to Fort Myers, Florida, like three minutes away from my house."

A Manager at the Crown Plaza tells us they are very happy to host the Vice President at their hotel. She said it's a once-in-a-lifetime event, and they hope to have him back next time he's in town.

Biden is expected to speak Saturday morning at 11:40 at Wa-Ke Hatchee Park Recreation Center.
