CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- FHP reports 35-year-old Thomas Labelle is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle near Jones Loop Rd. on I-75 yesterday evening.

The accident happened at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Labelle was following his friend, 44-year-old Andrew Adame, both from Bonita Springs, at a high rate of speed on I-75. Adame slowed for traffic, but Labelle was unable to avoid collision. He turned sharply to the left, entering the grass median. Labelle then lost control, struck a cable barrier and was ejected. His right arm was severed by the cable barrier.

Adame left the scene and was later escorted back.

Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Labelle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
