TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Former Florida State and Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Harry Davis has been pardoned for a 1987 cocaine conviction.
    
Gov. Rick Scott and the three-member Florida Cabinet pardoned Davis on Thursday in their capacity as the state Board of Executive Clemency.
    
Davis told the panel he needed the pardon to pass background checks so he can do volunteer work with children and obtain a massage therapist license.
    
The 6-foot-7 Davis currently works as a member of the Cav Legends, schmoozing with fans during the basketball season.
    
A Cleveland native, he was with the Cavaliers for only the 1978-79 season. He then played in the Continental Basketball Association and Europe through 1985.
    
Davis starred at Florida State from 1974 through 1978. He was Metro Conference co-player of the year in 1977-78.
